Red Lyon, Hurley

Ive known this pub for years and only went the once when it was a Vintage Inn (and a bad one at that).
Now it is a true independent and it shows. Its interior has been restored to showcase original features including roaring fires. The garden is still quite new, (apparently the produce is used in the kitchen), but is cleverly divided up to give secluded tables or more public ones.
The food follows the seasons and is sourced independent suppliers. It hasnt disappointed yet. At just over 10 the Sunday roast is exceptional value pink beef, crispy Yorkshire and proper stock pot gravy.
Wines varied and are well priced and the draught beers come from just down the road.
Clearly the pub has gone back to the good old days. Hence I guess reverting to the old spelling of the name Red Lyon, as it would have been known centuries past.
