The White Lion Inn, Thakeham

This is a great little pub with a lovely "homely" atmosphere with friendly staff and superb food. They have Harveys, London Pride and now Doombar as their regular ales and then a fourth "guest" ale and the beer is always good and kept well. They also have an interesting new wine list. Dogs and well behaved children are welcome and the three pub dogs are very popular characters. Although the pub is a little out of the way it is definitely worth a visit as it is rare these days to find such a nice "old fashioned" pub with no loud music blaring out where you can just go and enjoy a quiet drink and really good food .
