Shoulder of Mutton, Kirk Smeaton
We have been going to this pub for several years. It is the hub of this idilic village. The awards it recieves for the quality of the beer are well deserved. In winter the real open fires are very welcoming and there is a superb beer garden for the summer months.
There is a very picturesque walk from the car park around Brockadale, which is the local nature reserve. It takes around 40 minutes - just enough time to work up a thirst.
It is well attended by the locals who provide an excellent atmosphere.
It is great to see a thriving local pub when so many others are closing down
