Watership Down, Freefolk Priors

We visited the Watership for the first time on May 31st, our wedding anniversary. I used the pubs website booking tool to book a table and even made a note that it was for a special occasion. After hearing nothing in the way of a confirmation for two days I decided to call them. A lady answered the phone and said yes they had the booking but they would just be doing a bbq on that day. She assured me it would of the highest quality with home made burgers.
On arrival at just after 12.20 we were told that all the home made stuff was already gone and after a very long wait at the bar we opted for the hotdog and some chips to share at over �6.00 per head. My husband was served a really bad pint of bitter and we went to sit in the beer garden as it was a nice sunny day.

We sat and waited for our food in the garden littered with dog excrement and when it was ready we were called over. The young guy doing the bbq had a serious attitude problem amd was very rude and made us feel unwelcome.

We ate our cheap and nasty hotdog and chips on thin paper plates and left sharpish.

What a shame that potentially such a wonderful pub is being run by people that just don't seem to care.
