I've visited this pub many, many times and hired it for a handful of private parties in the past. I will never do so again while the pub is under the current management.

Just before Christmas, I hired the upstairs bar with a �100 deposit. During the night, the manager broke the news that there was a �750 minimum spend if I wanted to get my deposit back. This was the first mention of it, we had agreed no such minimum spend previously. Since it was a small party, we were unlikely to hit this target but my friends rose to the competition and we eventually broke the �750 barrier.

At the end of the night, I sought out the manager to get my deposit back, at this point he decided that, due to some unspecific - and indeed nonexistent - damage to the toilet, he would be keeping my deposit. I argued for as long as I could be bothered but to no avail.

This used to be a brilliantly run pub but unfortunately while it's in the hands of a crook, I certainly can't recommend it to anyone.
