The Salisbury Tavern, Fulham

I don't usually write reviews for restaurants, but I thought I should post a comment on how much I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at the new-look 'Salisbury' (not Salisbury Tavern anymore!).

It's completely changed since the refurb in November - at last, I might add, because it's previous incarnation had been going downhill quite frankly. We live in a nearby street and had long since stopped frequenting - but that's all changed now! The Salisbury is now a smart, but relaxed eating destination with seperate civilised bar area. All candles and soft-lighting, an openplan dining area - sharp, yet comfortable.

We took a couple of friends out for an evening meal a few nights ago and there a few things I'd like to say:

The wine list is out of this world - a range of styles and prices that really impressed my husband.
The staff were absolutely lovely - sincere, friendly and with a great sense of humour - they really made us feel at home.
The food is out of this world - a really interesting menu that removes the whole idea of starters and has a range of small plates for you to begin your meal - or snack upon in the bar I suppose. We had a Goats Cheese, Radish and Mint Salad and Smoked Mackeral with Eggy Bread that we thought was really tasty. I haven't had Eggy Bread since I was young and forgot how great it was! For our mains we had a Cep and Celeriac Gateaux which I thought was REALLY good, whilst my friend loved her perfectly cooked Rack of Lamb with Dauphinoise Potatoes. It was all topped off by the most amazing Honey Madelines of all time with Milk Chocolate and Baileys Truffle. Absolutely marvellous.

So there we go - WHAT a turnaround! It's only a matter of time before The Salisbury gains it's deserved spot at the top of Fulham's restaurants - it certainly deserves to be! Go and try it!
