The Cutty Sark Tavern, Greenwich
I went to this pub last week for the first time after a recommendation from the Landlord of the Gypsy Moth (another nice pub) in the centre of Greenwich and I loved it.
The ale selection was excellent and very well kept, tasters were offered by the very young and enthusiastic landlord. He knew his stuff and clearly loved his ale and whiskey selection, it was nice to see such a love for his products, he made our visit even more special, he talked to us for ages and made us feel very welcome. His lovely wife talked to us as well and they had us in stitches with the banter between them.
The big letdown for us was the food, as it seems to be to a lot of people, dont get me wrong, it was edible but it wasnt anything special and for a pub as special as this, I would have expected something fantastic and different but it was bland and uninteresting. We had the Veg Wellington and the Fish and Chips, and both were bland, not horrible just nothing to say good about them.
This could be the most outstanding pub in Greenwich if they had as good food as they do drinks and staff, such a shame they dont. 10 for service and drinks, 4 for food.

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich
This is a great pub to sit in, the ale isnt great but the cider range is impressive and the food looked really good. We didnt eat there but wished we had later on. The service wasnt that great, the staff were slow and held a conversation with each other whilst serving us. Whilst they gave us tasters of the ale, they didnt seem happy about it.
However, the atmosphere and setting were great and we had a really nice time, the garden is lovely and all the customers seemed nice, we got chatting with a few and ended up sitting with a group of people, and went away with a few numbers for future drinking sessions which is always good when you are fairly new to an area.
I would give this pub a 7, service let it down but a good place on the whole.
