Stumbled across this basement bar on our way in to Manchester on a Saturday evening after having a few around Salford. I can appreciate its not everyone's cup of tea but we agreed it was great if you like that kind of thing which fortunately we do! Its kind of like a larger, cleaner version of the Temple Bar on Great Bridgewater street. I had a pint of Brooklyn Lager on draft which I've got a bit of a taste for recently & whilst it wasn't cheap at £3.40 it was a pretty nice drink. Some trappiste beers in the fridge which were tempting but a bit strong for me on a pub crawl! maybe next time as I'm due to be in Manchester soon with the Mrs for a gig.

Went in on a Saturday lunchtime whilst visiting the area. Proper old backstreet pub,had a nice pint of Joseph Holt IPA & a pint of Two Hoots which was equally as good. Was fairly quiet when we went in with a few locals chatting at the bar but was good for a chat & catch up with my mate who I hadn't seen for a while over a decent pint pulled by a friendly barmaid & locals were happy to point us in the direction of other pubs nearby. Good to see this type of place still open & from what I hear thriving, its certainly worth a visit in my opinion.

Been in many times as its fairly local to me & one of the many pubs in the Canning Circus area. As its been mentioned its now owned by the Blue Monkey brewery & has many excellent choices of beer with some regular & others changing. All very well kept. Nice decor inside includes real wood fire, excellent sun terrace outside for the summer. Can get busy on a Saturday night but its a pretty good crowd. Great starting point for a crawl in to town down Derby rd or just to stay put on the sun terrace on a summer Sunday afternoon or indoors with the fire during the colder months.
