Mr Foley's Cask Ale House, Leeds

This is a good pub. I can definitely say that it no longer smells of vomit -- there was a sign announcing temporary closure to deal with it, then the next week the admittedly smell was completely gone, and has not been detected since (that was a good six months back). Really good choice of beers, nice and cosy, plenty of space.

The Deramore Arms, Heslington

Changed hands recently, and signs looked positive with good guest ales (notably Hopback Summer Lightning, which I adore) and much-improved food. And then, and then, one of the bar staff short-changed me (to the tune of a fiver!) and wouldn't admit his mistake. After much patient insistence he did, but still, that's no way to persuade someone to come back. Since then, I haven't. Shame really.

The Rose and Crown, York

Not sure about the new ownership. Used to have consistently crap beer, decent food, and a good atmosphere. Still has crap beer, although I noted a slight improvement from a very low base. However, it now has crap food too (stone cold soup, and everything was crop-dusted with paprika, presumably for artistic reasons?) and to boot no atmosphere whatsoever. Unless you're there for the football on sky, the Rook across the road is a no brainer.
