re: wilf880. Beef Stew? check! Meat pie? check! Why didnt you bother to read the menu? �50 for 4 meals plus sides expensive? Pork belly not English? Not local produce? Country Harvest-high street Carshalton,local enough for you? Maybe you would be better off in 'the sun' where you can have such British treats as 'Quesadillas,Rissotto and paninis,time has moved on,i suggest you do the same!

The Racehorse, Carshalton

After having visited the Racehorse infrequently over the years i feared the worst at the suggestion of a meal with friends recently after the reopening. As i walked in my fears seemed to be confirmed as at 8pm on a thursday evening it was empty in the restaurant although a fair few drinkers were scattered around. Anyway we were greeted by a friendly warm hostess (we later found out it was the landlady) and were shown to a table. I chose the pork belly and 10-15 mins later was served with a well presented and i must say delicious meal,my wife ordered a chicken supreme with a roasted sweetcorn sauce and she too was impressed with the meal. Overall a combination of good food and service and we will be definately returning soon.
