The White Horse, Harrow

Went in for the first time for a couple of drinks and dinner on Saturday night. Friendly staff, great beer (four different ales on handpump) and superb pub food. I had haddock, chips and mushy peas and my wife had homemade game pie with mash and peas - both dishes were delicious. Fullers Front Row and Gale's Seafarers Ale were both excellent. Recommended - we will return.

Cricketers Arms, Ockley

Stopped off here for a refreshing drink on journey back to London from the coast. Surprisingly quiet at 7pm on a Friday but Ringwood Best and Marstons Pedigree both excellent. Friendly service, nice large garden with plenty of tables and rare 'ungentrified' interior including bar billiards table and dartboard. In short, the kind of pub you would wish to find in any English village. Perfect.

The Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow

Large single room Victorian gin palace in Glasgow city centre. Amazing bar which covers most of the room, two draught bitters - Deuchars IPA and Taylor's Landlord, huge engraved mirrors throughout plus wonderful stained glass in the front windows. Absolutely packed on a Friday lunchtime with a real buzz. Would be a good venue for a night on the lash with your mates. Worth visiting for the decor, beer and the amazing bar.
