The Star Inn, Bath

If CAMRA ran the world, all pubs would be like this, basic with little distraction from the beer and rich in nooks, with indeed the odd cranny to boot. Self-consciously old-fashioned but none the worse for that, and excellent of its type. The Abbey ales are superbly kept.

Cosy little place, excellent locally-brewed Abbey ales on draught. Highly recommended.

The Railway Tavern, Carshalton

Capable, rather basic little suburban pub, handily placed for the railway station,Fuller's London Pride was well kept (but is the cellar really the best in the South-East?? Wow!), Modest and unassuming place which accommodated visiting football fans graciously on my Saturday lunchtime visit.
