I think that the 'anti Dermot' comments on here are a little precious.

This place was like the Marie Celeste for 5 years before the Mc Canns rolled into town.

Yes, they do run a tight ship. I got a friendly ticking off for going mental when my fotball team scored and have no problem with this as Dermot was only communicating correctly that it isn't that sort of pub. The Adelaide is one of the few pubs that you can guarantee is totally free of PBFS (Professional Bar Fly Scum) and this is all credit to the Land Lord.

The Mc Canns can't do enough for us, our friends and families in order to make us feel welcome. It speaks volumes that I have seen at least 3 pilgrimages from East and North London from Dermots old regulars at the Cheshire Cheese in Holburn. They are rightly mourning the loss of a highly talented publican and friendly charachter. The Cheshire cheese has by the way died on its arse since 'The Dermot factor' evaporated.

As well as being a great host, Dermot has also bent over backwards to support philanthropic endeavours at the pub and helped to raise over �500 for a friend of ours with cancer.

He has a real pride in his establishment, if this pride comes across to some people as occasional tardiness then so be it. My wife and I have never found Dermot, Vera, Marianna or the team to be anthing less than totally hospitable, warm and welcoming in a manner that goes way beyond the call of duty. My best ever local by a long chalk and somewhere where I feel far too comfy!
