The Gardeners Arms, Timperley

I have just moved to the area and i found this pub by doing an internet search for pubs in Timperley. I arranged to meet a few friends/family and ex-neighbours here at lunchtime Thursday for a few drinks before going into Manchester. I couldn't believe it when i got a call from a friend saying he was here but it was closed at 1.30pm. I had to start phoning everyone to quickly rearrange the meeting. They could have taken at least �200 from us in a few hours. This pub has a great catchment area with hundreds of houses and the new Bridge flats but nobody has done anything to attract customers. Surely it doesn't take too much brains to think of doing a leaflet drop to the new flats offering a meet the neighbours evening and maybe doing a buy one get one free deal. There are 150 flats at the Bridge, with two people in each flat thats 300 potential new regulars. With virtually no competition if they can't make it pay it must be down to bad management. You can't just close a business because you don't think you will get any customers. A pub has to be reliable. I certainly won't be using it.
