what are you guys talking about i don't think any of you visit this pub regulary. first of all the food in here is great its better then the local 'restaurants' and very cheap as well. you can have a taod in the hole for under 10 and you don't have to eat for the rest of the day. as for the staff having an atitude i don't think thats fair on the staff they do get a bit stressed when its busy but they are very good at their job and its the staff that gives this place its personality i think. you just need to get to them and start chatting to them.

the beers are good and now they have started doing BBQ every weekend( which cannot be beaten by any around south london)

and for the record i live in east dulwich and don't work at all (retired 4 years ago) so stop complaining who ever you people are! :-)

Spoke to the manager last night and he informed me that he's having mini beer festival during Easter Weekend from beers all over the country (about 25 of them i was told) something for everyone.

There will be 8 or 9 different beers (ales) on at any one time. you are guaranteed to find new ones either during that same day or on the next day.

If you like real beer then visit this pub at least once during the weekend. you wont be disappointed.

i have to disagree with the last comment that was posted here. i have been visiting the dog for the last 5 years and i remember the food they did. Sandra's home made dishes at lunch tiem were delicious but there wasn't a great deal of choice and we English demand freedom to choose. the evening menu which didn't start till 6pm (now food is all day) was too simple. the menu now can rival that of the restaurants in dulwich village.

as you can read for the previous comments the staff are very polite and tentative and always up for converstation and this still hasn't changed there is however a high turn over on bar staff so new staff will be uncertain at first but they always feel more confortable after a few weeks.

as for the kids/children you can also read the comments below by other punters who visit this pub. i have a 9 year old son and i was told a while back by duncan (the manager) that the pub didn't have a childrens licence so kids aren't really allowed inside by law but because the dog is such a family friendly pub (well what do you expect from a pub in the middle of the village) he has designated secial areas for kids.

you need more than one bad visit to say anything bad about any shop/pub don't you think???
