Having read the reviews, I had high hopes of this pub on my first visit to Glasgow. Our hotel was only five minutes walk away, so we found it easily enough, but sadly upon entering the place, my wife was overcome by the smell from the toilets. We had to turn around and walk right out again. Sadly, I will therefore never know if this pub is as good as people say. Fortunately, we found another hostelry called The Merchant just around the corner. Not only did this place have several real ales from Loch Lomond Brewery, but they were on offer, and even cheaper than the local Wetherspoons. Needless to say this pub became the venue of choice during our visit. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be an entry yet on BITE to post a review, but details can be found at themerchantglasgow followed by co followed by uk.

A great pub, beautiful location, plenty of atmosphere, good local beer, and dog-friendly with friendly staff (although one exception). We were in here every afternoon during our recent stay on Skye, with our well-behaved dog. Mutts not allowed from 6pm to 9.30 in the evening though, whilst food is being served. Fair enough, so myself and dog wandered in a couple of times during the week after 9:30pm, no problem. But on our last evening, on entering the pub at 9:45pm, the barman, who we luckily hadnt encountered previously, bellowed out you cant bring that dog in here, were still serving food!, despite the fact that they werent, as the last diners were just having their table cleared. So we turned around and left. Funny way to treat your best customers of the week, I thought, and an unfortunate end to an otherwise enjoyable holiday.

The Lab, Glasgow
Had high hopes of this place during my first visit to Glasgow, after reading other reviews, but upon entering, sadly discovered that this bar had no real ale, so didn't stay. The barman helpfully recommended the Bon Accord, which looks good from reviews but I was unable to visit due to time constraints.
