The Cat and Mutton, Hackney

The waiter spilled gravy all down my back at a girlfriend's birthday drinks there yesterday and all I got was a scared 'sorry'. I didn't want to make a fuss but it was agreed around the table that some sort of compensation was in order. I asked the girls behind the bar for a half price bottle of wine and they said they couldn't do anything until the manager came in (20 mins later). About 3 hours later I asked the manager if she was going to do anything about it and she had no idea what I was talking about. Then she said she couldn't do anything because it happend on the ownwers shift ?!?!. Eventually I got a free beer for one of my friends as I was drinking a white wine that was only served by the bottle. I spent �60 in there on lunch and drinks and I was one of about 15 people! How stupid are some of these managers and bar staff. I've worked in customer service for most of my adult life and a free bottle of wine would be the least you'd do for ruining someone's shirt and possibly their Sunday afternoon. On top of that one of the people with us didn't get any gravy on their roast at all because they had 'run out'. About 7 of us had roasts! Couldn't they seem it coming and give the rest of us a little less?! I know I'm ranting but I'm getting tired of this sort of stupidity. And for icing on the cake - they charge a 12.5% service charge. Rubbish!
