Great pub - Goddards Fuggle Dee Dum again! Very friendly landlord- we chatted about the IOW breweries and beers. Nautical memorabilia in cosy snugs and amazing views across the sea.

NB if you park in the pay and display up the road be careful you're not 9 minutes late!!!

The Crown Inn, Shorwell

This is a first class pub make no mistake about it.

There were 16 of us on a long weekend break celebrating a friend's 50th at a farm nearby ( which was also amazing!) We had lunch on the first day and were delighted with the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food and excellent beers - Goddards Fuggle Dee Dum! We chose home-made chicken, ham and leek pie, scampi (14 pieces!) and Crayfish Risotto which was served quickly and with a smile in front of a roaring coal fire. Lager drinkers were happy with the San Miguel or Peroni and bitter drinkers with Goddards F Dee Dum, Ringwood 49er, Tribute, Doombar etc etc.

We walked to the pub again the next day and enjoyed more beers and some sat by the fire and others outside in the pretty gardens.

On sunday evening 12 of us went down for dinner and even though it was getting close to 9pm we were served freshly cooked "proper chef" food with a smile. We rearranged a few tables to seat us all together and that was fine too. The food again was top drawer;- roast beef with all the trimmings, venison, fish pie, and another risotto. The beers flowed we laughed and chatted to a few locals ( ken etc??). A great night. A great pub. Thank you.10 out of 10.
