The Riverside Inn, Tuckton

went there last night and had the worst meal I can recall! (1) Specklen Hen served at near freezing (it ain't lager!), (2) starter taken away before we'd finished, (3) lamb steak was dry, tough and inedible, (4) tea and coffee served one cup short and then the cup provided was dirty. Shocking. Table staff were pleasant though, although the 'supervisor' was miserable and smelt of stale fags when she can to see what was wrong with my meal (and then pointlessly prodded the lamb steak as if to try to disprove my theory)...

The Sovereign of the Seas, Petts Wood

aaaargh - sticky carpet, smelly toilet, average food prepared badly. OK, so it's cheap, but then so is Threshers and sitting on a bench in the Memorial Gardens. Which at least don't smell! Snakebite? Probably the only way to get you through a night here. Needs strong beer goggles to see anything appealing about it...

The Daylight Inn, Petts Wood

'A pub of two halves' - one with large screens for footy, pool table and a younger customer base. The other more comfy, soft lighting and quieter. I prefer the latter (being a 40-something old git). But the two mix well enough. Decent beer. Reasonable food. 'Lively' Friday/Saturday nights. Beats getting beaten-up in Bromley...
