Brilliant pub, we went there last Friday on a recommendation and had a superb meal, as good as any top restaurant and half the price. They also have typical pub food on the menu like fish and chips and bangers and mash, but what the place is really about is top quality game and fish. Stunning location with far reaching views, beautiful olde worlde pub, freindly efficient staff.
We went for a lovely walk through the woods afterwards. Hard to beat.

This pub is now just a restaurant and they dont serve beer without a meal. Gone is the charming character of this little country pub, all redecorated and refurbished into oblivion. All thats left are a few randomly placed horsebrasses on the wall. Even the fireplace has candles in it now. The food was good and the service slick, but not much change out of 100 quid for two with wine. I had cornish calamari which would have been perfect were it not for the heavy vinagrette dressing which drowned the flavour, followed by rabbit which was excellent. On balance, not good value for money and no character so I wont be going again

We've been visiting this pub now and again for a few years now, and never had a bad experience. True, the place is extremely busy on Sundays, and it sounds as if the previous reviewer tried to get a table without booking, but we have always found the service and food exemplary, and though pricey compared to an average pub, I think it's really good value. I would recommend it to anyone.
