Must agree with most of the later reviews, have been drinking here for nearly 30 years, and seen changes, most of which I have not liked. Food and drinks extremely overpriced, landlord always calls time dead on 11.00, even when pub is busrting at the seams, quoting "we are in a residential area", so what about the other pubs in the area that stay open later. Latest refurb, was obviously done to entice diners not drinkers, far too formal. This is a PUB not a restaurant. Cant get normal pub food or snacks. They have sacrificed the patio area for the new larger restaurant, and turned the old restaurant into a lounge, but no enough comfy sofas, and a bit detached from the pub area. Agree that its a stupid idea to have to go past the mens loo door, to get to the garden, bad planning. Has a no smoking area OUTSIDE in the garden ?? ( I am not a smoker by the way ). We used to pop over at least every other day in summer or winter, but at nearly 10 for one wine and a pint, cant afford to any more, but there are other places to drink, without resorting to the 'yobbo' pubs.

Dont bother going to this place to eat, they have always run out of what you want, or have closed the restaurant early "due to being busy", pathetic !.
Vastly overpriced, mass produced food of poor quality. I do not expect frozen tasteless chips, at the prices they charge. Too many tables in the beer 'garden', they might as well have tarmaced the place, and wierd 'beach huts' that you can hire. Message to the management we are in ENGLAND, not South Africa, cater for local long term patrons and dont pander to the younger overloud fly by night southern hemisphere types, who will be gone in a few months. Lastly, when you advertise Bombadier Ale at 2 on St Georges Day, make sure it is actually available, or if it ran out early like the food does, get somebody who can run the place properly.
