The Ship, Mortlake

Good beer including guest ales, well kept, excellent pub food including a veggie "fish" and chips (in fact battered halloumi) - perfect for vegetarians who are sick of the usual uninspiring veggie options. Went in there with 16 people on a weekend lunch time, we all got food quickly and the portions were great. Recommended.

The Northgate, Islington

I love this pub. The only downside is that it's quite expensive, but hey - that's Islington. The barstaff are friendly, the beer is well kept (considering that it has more of a wine-list clientele) and the food is excellent. I wouldn't usually pay more than a tenner for pub grub (I'm a tightwad), but I make an exception for this one because it's restaurant quality food. The big, squishy sofas are good too.

The White Swan, Islington

I'm surprised the reviews are so positive. The building's okay, but the clientele range from the merely chavvy to the positively psychotic. And so do the staff, none of whom can add up change correctly.
