I'm sorry that Phillipm didn't appear to enjoy his visit to us (9 June review). I'm always sorrier that customers don't talk to US when they feel there experience has been less than what they would have liked it to be as well.

To be succinct - ALL of our food is frshly home cooked. The veg are pre-cooked and then re-heated in accordance with the vast majority of establishments - with the amount of covers we do, it would be untennable to do anything less.

We do give large portions of everything - including chips (chilled not frozen) but we also have rice, cous cous and new potatoes with many of the dishes. The only thing we sell that we haven't cooked or made ourselves is the Bread and the Ice cream.

We don't sell Clam Chowder - we sell Shell Fish Chowder. I've always said personally that I can't stand this dish, but it is one of our best selling dishes on the menu, and many hundreds of customers return time and time again just for this.

I have a very strong policy that if customers are less than delighted with their experience I will personally talk to them and try to address their issues, and if I'm not available then I have 2 managers who are.

Our motto is 'A Traditional Pub with Traditional Values' and I stand by that.
