The Maybury Inn, Maybury

A complete re-build using the original Victorian structure as the core but substantially expanded. The new owners have done a nice job (the current picture is pre builders). There's a good buzz to the atmosphere but not hysterical (unless you're unlucky to hit ladies who lunch bringing screaming babies in their buggies). Menu is good, not too big with a mixture of standards and some imaginative dishes. However, food execution needs improving - it's a bit hit and miss. Dried out starters which have either been in the oven too long an or under an infra-red lamp keeping warm and fried fish with soggy batter are teething problems that should have been shaken out of the system by now. Overall a good experience with helpful and enthusiastic young staff.
