The Rambler Country House, Edale

Not a good experience. I went in with friends and ordered �35 of food and �10 drink and then asked for a glass of water. I was refused and the only reason the bar person could give me was that it was against policy. I have given up getting bothered about this so asked for a pint or cordial without the cordial (ie water which i would pay for). This was going to be around �1.50. A bit steep so i declined and sat down to enjoy my meal and beer.
When the food arrived a friend and i both had the wrong meal. I pointed this out to the waitress who appeared not to be able to speak and walked away with no acknowledgement.
A lady who i took to be the manageress appeared who apologised and offered to replace both meals. I declined and said i did not want to see these meals wasted. I asked for a glass of tap water as compensation. She declined and explained that it was against policy and could not explain further. At that point i gave up again. Now on our second drink we had spend around �55.
The meal which i finally ate was a chicken pie. Pie was OK, Chips OK and peas were overcooked and grey.
A disappointingly meal. Beer OK. Very unfriendly. Poor service on a number of counts and as we left another couple commented to me that they were voting with their feet.

We walked up to the nags head and found the staff and atmosphere far better. I will not be visiting the rambler again.
