The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

I drank here regularly about four years ago and noticed one of the staff taking a bucket of slops down to the cellar. When I enquired what they were doing with it, a managerial wannabe who appeared to have originated from a test tube in Stockport genetics lab told me �it�s nothing for you to worry about sir, just you keep on drinking�. Then one of the customers next to me suggested it must be to record the ulage.Then, last week I was back in town and decided to visit again, what a transformation!!! The only face I recognised was the non-witty Northerner. The rest of the staff seemed to be eastern European girls with a poor grasp of English and even worse beer pouring skills. Then it happened, I noticed one of the girls pick up a bucket of slops and tip it down the sink. I jokingly asked the Northerner why they no longer pour it back in the barrels; he replied, �The owner became worried that the health and safety dept would find out. Shame though, I used to be able to get almost two buckets back into the Courage Directors without anybody noticing���Now that think about it, I used to drink the Directors all those years back.Think I might go and have some tests done.True Story!!!
