The Ash Tree, Ashton Under Lyne
opening hours update:
Sunday to Thursday 7am - 11pm
Saturday and Friday 7am - 11.30.
loads getting turned away.
If your not in 15 mins before the last orders bell , there is a good chance they wont serve you. Keep an eye on your watch, as often the bell is very gently rung, as one or two staff seem to delight in saying you've missed last orders. -hopeless.
i go in less and less these days, but for all the scrubbing and cleaning that goes on, rather than serving , the tables in this place stay dirtier longer than they once did.
It seems the management are determined to drive customers away. And its not that cheap either now.

This place has got quiet recently and no wonder, staff seem to be going through the motions, seem irritated by customers and look overly tired from long shifts.
Food has gone from average to poor.
Last week I ordered a steak which came with one tiny wrinkled mushroom and half a tomato that had been zapped into near oblivion. I wont discuss the steak, but If you can't 'grill' a tomato to some degree of success, then its time to knock it on the head. I wont eat here again. Nor will i miss the sound of bottles being chucked into the bottle skip every two minutes shattering the (ha, ha- wait for it....) 'atmosphere'.
Prices on booze seem to be creeping up too, but ash tree not unique in that. Would i really go out of my way to spend my time (and money) here? on reflection, no.
What was that clang?
The ridiculously early call for last orders or the sound of Wetherspoons share price crashing through the floor?

Yes, the opening hours are at long last displayed at the front entrance. Which is at least an improvement. I'm glad to hear that Vivaronaldo is content with his visits to the pub, that's fair comment. Personally, I still find the place a poor relation to the stalybridge wetherspoons .
