The Gable, Moorgate

So I gave this pub a hard time when I reviewed it before because of the extortionate prices the xmas before last but I gave it another go and the changes made me feel like I had to re-review. It's recently had a refurbish which, to be honest, had left it no better or worse than it was. The best change was that pints of Becks Vier was now only £3 during the lunchtime which was much more palatable than my previous visit. Coupled with the 'short skirts for bar staff' policy it's not too bad.

Aimed more for a sit down meal than a proper boozer and I still wouldn't recommend if you are an ale drinker (still only Adnams on) but getting better...

The Gable, Moorgate

Just been mugged at this place. Have been an on/off regular here for years as it's down the road from work but the price of Becks Vier is now �5.40!! And that's one of the cheaper beers - Star was about �5.70. What a rip off - it's well over the odds for an upmarket bar let alone this average place. Even during "happy hour" the prices just about work out ok. Judging by the last review from the previous week the price of beer is creeping up week by week...

Average place, extortionate prices. A few of the barmaids are quite hot but unfortunately not enough of a justification to visit. I won't be coming back here ever again. Much better bars in the immediate vincinity - Telegraph, Dr Butlers Head, Globe, Red Herring all better. I'd even prefer the Corney & Barrow down Mason's Steet.
