The Deptford Arms, Deptford

Having moved to the area since the Deptford Arms closed, I visited this page just to see what kind of a pub it was. It seems like it's a real loss to the area. But all is not lost, as I've found the Bird's Nest, which is not far, seems to have the same kind of thing going on, and it's got great ales.

The Hare and Hounds, St Albans

I went here for the first time last weekend because i was looking for somewhere to watch the england (v andorra) game, and didn't want to go to the usual bland places. all in all, i had a good time and would definitely go back again. the staff were friendly and flexible with what was being shown (there was a lot of sport on that afternoon). i watched the game in the back room which had a good atmos (tho i'd come early and got a table at the front) and free darts. the doom bar was delicious. only possible downer was lots of very young children when we first arrived but they might have cleared off when the main event started.
