Hi there, This is John the new manager at The St. Margarets. Just thought I'd post a note and try to clear up a few rumours and myths! Firstly I'd like to apologise to anyone who feels that the pub has gone down hill in recent months and I'd like to reassure you all that I fully intend to change things to restore it to the pub it once was. I only finally moved into The St. Margarets on Tuesday July 4th after running my previous pub in Sth. Kensington for sixteen years. Running the two pubs for a couple of months has been harder than I thought. Right then........we are NOT going to become a football pub. We will not show premiership football next season. I am a football fan myself but I do not believe screening football is right for this pub.Along with almost every other pub in the country not showing the World Cup was not really an option. However, come Sunday night the flags etc will be gone!!! We WILL show rugby. The refurbishment will begin on Monday morning July 10th and we are hoping to re open on Thursday August 3rd (builders permitting)When we open up I'm sure everyone/most will like the new appearance and it will give us an opportunity to make a fresh start. The St. Margarets will have a dress code that will involve wearing a shirt at all times.....inside and out. Those wearing soiled clothing or boots will be asked to change at work before coming in for a pint.I don't like to exclude anyone if I can help it but if people are spoiling others enjoyment they will simply have to find somewhere else to drink. This process may take a few weeks and involve a few differences of opinion but is very necessary. This is a fantastic area to live and work and I'm really looking forward to becoming part of this community. If anyone has any suggestions please post them on this site and I will certainly consider them. Please remember that I'm the manager NOT the owner!!! If you want to know what is happening to the pub during the refurbishment just ask and I can post some details of the proposed works.
