George and Dragon, Rowde

my husband and I went here for my birthday. we live just down the road and have meant to go for ages!! Firstly it was a lovely warm friendly atmosphere. i cannot remember feeling so relaxed at a meal. Now being a big eater I didnt have a starter but plumped for the Scallop and black pud salad( scallops being my food heaven) They were sweet and tender and probably the best I have tasted. Hubby had the cracked crab and enjoyed it although saying it was a bit too much.... i wore a lot of it as his skills with crackers were not that good ! :) We ordered a side salad and a bowl of veg which didnt come with the meal, this was unecessary but I did think hubby needed more than just crab!! For pud he had the roulade and I had the lemon possit , which was an absolute delight... very rich and very very lemony!! I then had an irish coffee ( and thanks to staff for making it Irish not scottish) hub had a plain coffee. We paid for drinks separate and the lot can to �80 ( including service charge) i did think this a bit steep for 2 but as a special occasion it was fine. The menu is a bit limited if you are not a fish lover ( luckily we are) . However I thoroughly enjoyed the evening , staff were great and we will be abck.
