Annie's, Barnes
First impressions of Annie's were favourable. It was bustling and intimate with seemingly only one table free - which luckily was the one I booked. The staff appeared a little keen to have us place an order slightly quicker than perhaps we were doing. The menu was short with reasonably interesting things on. It was shortly after ordering that I changed the shade position of a nearby lamp to lessen the interrogation like effect of the immediate lighting. To my dismay, the lampshade was adjusted back to its previous (not lopsided) position by a passing waitress. A small battle ensued with further adjustment exchanges. I cant remember who won in the end. As for the food, I had a plate of pork basically - there was not much else, just pork really. It was quite nice. My (delightful) companion went for the risotto which was bland - really bland - as bland as the singer James Blunt. We ordered Jamaican coffees and they were great.
In summary: a nice atmosphere (the people of Barnes on nearby tables were interesting to look at and remark upon) but the service and food were disappointing. For some reason the bill was just short of 100. There may have been a charge for a new lampshade in there somewhere however.
