The Crown and Mitre, Kings Lynn
We sought out this pub online via BITE. Looked very cute. We got there and it was quiet. Lovely decor inside with old artefacts around.
Landlord got talking and told us some history of the place and town.
After about 5 minutes he started talking about not having an 'ethnic' problem' in the town. I (Asian British) looked at my wife (Irish-Polish American) and wondered what he meant. Then he started on about not having 'coloured' folk ruining the town. My wife saw I was turning volcanic. We left very quickly afterwards and wondered if we had walked into a timewarp, a bygone age.
To add, King's Lynn has a mixed popualtion. Of course, a huge variety of tourists do visit also. Please visit the town. Do not visit the pub with the racist landlord.
