The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

Reading the most recent comment, what should be concerning to all who drink at and love this wonderful insitution, is that the Welock Arms was a limited company and has been dissolved recently - go to the companies house website for the details. I have been drinking at the Wenlock since 1994 and it will be a very sad day if this is the end of not just a good ale pub, but a unique slice of London life - to quote from an old song, "Say It Ain't So", I hope it isn't.

Crown, Hornchurch

1st time ever went in last night around 9.00pm after living in Hornchurch 51 years (33 years of legal drinking) - looking for post Tesco therapy. Walked out in under 10 seconds. Reasons; 1) Very smelly (ie; pre-smoking ban) 2) No decent beer 3) regulars making free with comments on strangers, therofore any potential customers being put off even if the first 2 points were not an issue.

There is much potential for this to be an above average surburban pub, especially with businesses like Neopost, B&Q and Tesco right on their doorstep - I hope whoever owns the freehold wakes up to what the Crown could be and has rhe cojones to make it into a pub that I would like to give a rating of not less than 7
