Royal Oak, Castor Village

On the recommendation of a friend who lives in the village, I booked a Sunday lunch at The Royal Oak for my wife and I and two friends up from London. We were all very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. The food was piping hot and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We were in the best seats in the pub (next to the main window) and the courteous staff left us to spend time chatting in a completely unhurried and very convivial way. Our friends from London were impressed by the beers, the food, the pub, and the village itself...... and they want to return sometime. On top of all that, the weather was superb. A very agreeable few hours. Were we just lucky?
