As a regular visitor to the Isle of Wight I have found the hospitality at all pubs and restaurants to be very frendly indeed - however the White Horse takes this one step further, the landlord Matt being the ultimate 'bloody nice bloke' made me and mine feel like old friends rather than just another group of punters -
Food is excellent too - and as has been repeated by other reviewers - the portions are huge (the 32oz steak I highly recommend). And to cap it all - they serve Goddards Fugle de Dum - a local ale that will in itself ensure that I re-visit the island as often as I can.
As my dear old dad would have summed up - " bleeding 'ansome"

Very dissapointed - stayed just around the corner in Bonchurch itself and after reading some of the other reviews on this site tried all week (repeatedly) to book a table whilst out and about (and able to get a mobile phone signal). Kept getting an answerphone message - the only time I did finally get through was 6.30 in the evening and they were fully booked.
Thus unable to comment on the food or beer as I am not part of that 'initiated' clique of patrons that actually know how to make contact!

Uninspiring Brews? This place serves Goddards Fugle de Dum - which is a locally made real ale fit for the gods! Anyone claiming to be a real ale drinker would sing it's praises.
Food is acceptable and good value - but hey (with reference to previous reviews) it is a beachfront pub for goodness sake! if you go to this place expectiong 5 star quality then yes you are going to be disappointed.
