The Halls Mill Inn, Gilford

Called in for lunch and we were the only visitors (my wife and I)--ordered soup from the very limited menu and 25 minutes later the waitress returned with what looked like a thin watery liquid with hard vegetables floating on top. I tasted it and called the waitress to advise of what I had found, telling her it was clearly made from a packet or similar and was not "home made"and she said she would inform the chef. She returned and said that the chef had informed her it had been made freshly on the premises that day. I asked her if it had been freshly made from a packet that day and she smiled and said she would not be allowed to comment. I then asked if Iwould I be allowed in the kitchen and was told "no"---I'm sure the packet would not have been hard to spot.
I do have to say that both my wifes main meal was "average" but unfortunately within 11 hours we were both suffering from severe stomach cramps and eventual bouts of diarrhoea. Regardless of my complaint--I was still charged for the hot water (soup). Needless to say we will be saying goodbye to this establishment.
