As a former member of staff i feel this place is getting a bit of a raw deal. Yes it has had its problems, mainly due to crap senior managment a dodgy managers more interested in filling their own pockets than improving the pub.
"Back in the day" it was a lively place which attracted locals as well as students and the 2 got on fine. After it re-opened in 2001 it turned over over 1 million in its first year. Sadly this was the beginning of the end. The owners dropped the prices and attracted the wrong sort of customers. Since then and until recently it has gone from bad to worse.
However, the recent re-furb has seen a turn around. The new door team (who don't run it as their own drug dealing den) have helped and despite what people have said here, it remains one of the cheapest pubs in the area.
Sadly, staff and managment try to do things by the book and refuse to turn a blind eye to things like blatant drug taking and violence on the premises, as is the case in some of the neighbouring pubs and bars.
It makes me laugh when people complain about the "type of people" in the tbi when if i go to any of the surrounding palces any night of the week, i guarantee i'll see 4 or 5 people who have been barred from the tbi and/or had to have the police called due to their behavior.
TBI = lesser of several evils.

Great place, i don't care what anyone says. My favourite bar in notts. Cheap drinks, pool, t.vs, sofas, quiz machine and good food. Plus the staff are friendly and some are pretty fit!
what more could you want?! Yellow card for life!!
