White Horse Inn, Moretonhampstead

This is a charming, old pub which I have visited twice after walks on the moor. It is getting better and better. Now that the restaurant at the back is up and running, I would recommend it to anyone who loves hearty, fabulous food made with the best ingredients available and by someone who both knows how to cook and loves cooking. It is incredible that you can find Mediterranean cooking at such a high standard tucked away in this village; this place is really worth a visit. The interior of the restaurant is unfussy, modern and charming, and there is a great courtyard as well for outdoor eating. And yes, the pub itself is at the front of the house, more traditional in style, and as far as I can tell, serves good beers (admittedly not my strong point). But for the quality of food at very reasonable prices this place ought to be packed every night!
