The Fleet Inn, Twyning

Having previously stopped over for a drink and being very impressed with the location by the river I decided subsequently to book 2 rooms for four of us for a two night stay. After playing a round of golf we arrived at around 5pm to be asked by the bar maid, " had we not received a phone call". On indicating no call had been received she went to say the boiler wasnt working and there was no hot water. It was a hot day and we were very sweaty and in need of a shower, so no hot water was out of the question. I asked to see someone in charge and was told the man in charge had gone to the doctors and she was on her own. Although she was distressed that no one had bothered to contact us she was only the paid barmaid. Eventually the man in charge returned but would not talk to us in person and sent a message via the the barmaid to offer 25% discount. The barmaid gave us a name of a bed and breakfast which we went to and promptly booked and had an excellent stay. It was very evident that, apart from the barmaid, nobody could care less about the position we were in and I think we were lucky to end up as well as we did. Having read other people experiences who actually stayed there it seams to me although we suffered initial inconvenience we had a lucky escape.
