The Glassblower, Piccadilly

At first instance, this pub seemed decent enough: an average range of beer and ales, and a bubbling atmosphere. They served one particularly notable ale too. The food was ok (at best), but our problems began with the service.

When I went to get a pint after our food had arrived, to my total bemusement, I was greeted with a diatribe of expletives, insults and threats from the barman. Sadly, either out of spite, amusement or insanity, the barwoman working there had untruthfully informed him that I had insulted her and called her names - what actually had happened is I had simply requested mayonnaise, twice. Now some might view this minor request as a criminal offence, I would say most wouldn't. Nevertheless she took it upon herself to totally misrepresent events, resulting in the barman's wrath.

Fortunately, seeing sense, the barman ultimately decided not to bar me because of this total non-event, having finally agreed with me that she had in fact made up this slur. Unfortunately for the two employees that were working on the evening of the 13th August, myself, nor my friends will never bring custom their way again. And if you want a night out with your friends without having your evening ruined by a spiteful barmaid, I suggest frequenting the friendly, warm and welcoming Leicester Arms across the way,(but i'll save such praise for the next review!)
