The Anchor Hotel, Shepperton

My husband and i visited The Anchor On Saturday 30th May 2009 and really liked it. It is an old building, lots of wooden paneling and beams. Everywhere is nicely carpeted. The toilets were clean. The young man serving behind the bar was pleasant and welcoming.
We had a drink in the afternoon sitting at a table outside enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the little square with the old church at the side and the King's Head pub and Warren Lodge Hotel opposite.
It was a quiet backwater, a wonderful place to enjoy the unusually sunny afternoon. The only downside was the beer, London Pride, not our favourite.

But we returned to dine there n the evening and enjoyed a glass of Grolsch and an excellent meal- lasagne and garlic bread for my husband, tasty gammon chips and a beautifully fried egg for me.
The food was served promptly after our order and the man bringing it was also very pleasant.

Before we visited we had read the earlier reviews which had rather put us off visiting the Anchor. But we are really glad we did and would happily recommend a visit there.
