great pub, with goodish live music some weekends. mostly one-man jobs doing decent covers. good vibes. nice traditional feel - darts, shove ha'penny teams etc. a few good-looking people get in there from time to time, so keep an eye out. you dig?

The Clown, Hastings

great little boozer, lovely mid afternoon with the sun streaming through the windows onto the red seats and carpet giving the place a lovely warm glow. Good vibes, good jukebox. shame the lights at night couldn't be little lower. a great antidote to the trendy bars in the old town with their their 20-something IT managers and media-type clients. The clown doesn't do clients, only drinkers, heavy drinkers. good to know one part of hastings remains free from the regeneration game and it's costly white elephants. But how long will it last now the smoking ban's kicked in? watch that space.

great pub, good vibes. anyone remember a regular back in the late 80s early 90s who was always claiming to be lord lucan's brother - short guy, smart dresser, greased back reddy-brown hair, mid- to late-40s. the scouse acccent kind of gave it away: "i'm lord lucan's brother, haw haw" - remember? where is he now?
