great selection of cider - better than any other i have been to in london. the food's excellent too; fishfinger bap anyone? The only thing that lets it down is the time it takes to get served - visit it off peak and you'll have a great time, otherwise be prepared to be frustrated.

White Mare Country House Hotel, Beckermet

great location in a picturesque vllage just opposite a kid's playground. However... the food is way overpriced and takes ages to arrive. We waited over 30 minutes for 5 meals at a quiet time of day. When it finally arrived, the steak was inedible,some of the toughest most disgusting meat i have tasted, literally made me gag - not what i expected for nearly �15 a portion. The landlord refunded me one of the meals as a gesture of goodwill, but in a very huffy "well the customer's always right" sort of way. Avoid if with kids, and don't go for food unless you have a lot of patience, a fat wallet and a strong stomach.
