The Wheatsheaf, Slough

Anonymous 9/6/06. As the ex landlord of this establishment I would like to correct you on a few matters. The number of beers taken off the pumps was three. Chiswick and Discovery. Purely because they didn't sell. When beers cost as much as they do and you're sending 2/3rd's back it does not make good business sense to keep on flogging a dead horse. The third beer to be taken off was Grolsch. Personally only one 'wife beater' is necessary on the pumps. I can assure you the cask beers were in excellent condition. They were allowed to rest for 72 hours before going on at the pumps and all sold within 72 hours. The only reason we were not in the good beer guide for 2006 is that we took over during cross publication and we ourselves could not take the credit for another landlords beer quality, however I have been recognised for keeping good beer and The Wheatsheaf will be in the 2007 edition.
The menu had great variety from healthy to traditional pub grub and was always bought in fresh and cooked on the day. There was never any pre- packaged food bought in. We NEVER received any complaints.
In respect to the time wait. We offered a phone through service for companies to minimise their waiting time. Most however chose to ignore this service, turn up mob handed during the busy period, order their food and then set in to their weekly ritual of being extremley rude and demanding why they hadn't been served their food within 10 minutes. Typical university people. Plenty of brains sadly lacking in common sense and manners. If people want fast food MacDonalds is in the High St. Not that far to walk even for Amazon!
Instead of hiding behind a computer to air your views I suggest you muster the courage to talk to people direct because if these matters are not addressed how can they be corrected!
As people are aware we took over a rather colourful pub. We worked hard to turn this around and gave back a community a great pub. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the regulars for their loyalty and custom. We have made some great new friends and we hope your heads was as sore as ours after our leaving do.
And to you Suity our steadfast St.George (he was a poof you know) a friend for life, no doubt. give me a call ref crib drink.
