The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo
I've had a couple of birthdays in here. I really like the small front bar. That said have been to see a few footie games in the big back bar. Its pretty scruffy but delivers where it matters. (There was a mouse running about the other night so beware)
I used to be drawn here by proximity to the station and Murphy's stout. Now it s the Battersea Bitter I'm after.
I now live in Waterloo and ironically go there less than when I was a commuter. Its a great asset if you're trains delayed or you're not going to get home in time for last orders.

I'm not surprised Whort found a warm welcome because 1) the family are big supporters of the game 2) you always get a warm welcome there unless, as GMDD writes, you're out of order in which case you are dealt with swiftly but still courteously.
The refurb was a bit of a shock, a pleasant shock, when I first saw it. It made the pub open up immensely. My only negative is that the wall hangings all seemed to get jettisoned. I have no warm feelings or indeed any recollection of what used to be on the walls but looked for some token that would connect it to its 'murky' past.
I pretty much moved away from the area a few years ago and have only popped in a half a dozen times. I really must arrange things to get down to the Quiz though: it was always a perfect mixture of fun and cold-bloodied rivalry.
In it's modest way it can hold it's head up high compared to all the other boozers in the area.

The Star Inn, Plumstead
Nice pub split into public bar and salon. Fun quiz on Tuesdays is popular. Beer is ok Pride and Broadside are regulars. Pleasant place to watch football. No food that I can think of.
