The Red Lion, Northend

Everyone knows that it is not down to the locals for the failure of this buisness over the last 4 years. Lets get that straight! Only about 20% of the villagers ever go to or use the Pub ( and thats a generous estimate at best). The 20% that do go are mostly of the older generation and therefore cannot afford to spend huge amounts of there hard earned pensions and savings. A small percentage are middle aged working class people like myself whom cannot attend every day because of the drink drive laws, although I will say that there are those who do not care for the law, nuff said. A proportionate amount of the younger generation do attend occassionaly but find that it is not of their liking due to the fact there is no Pool table and gaming machines or even a TV to keep them amused. Hence the tag" Dead Lion ". This is a Country Pub after after all.
I am lead to believe that the Red Lion is to reopen once again on the evening of 26th November 2010 under new management. I certainly will use the Pub as it is my local and I just hope for the villagers sake that the new proprietors have the right solution to pull the place back up onto its feet. That is to attract outside customers to boost there reputation and not rely on the villagers alone to support their buisness. We have seen this all to often, and we all know that sooner or later the final bell will sound once and for all.
