Duke of York, Surbiton

very bland + generic pub which was not much better when it was a hobgoblin a few years back. seems quite popular with the students. however, there's almost no reason to go here at all unless the victoria opposite is full and you don't feel like walking anywhere.

still it's not as bad as the saucy kettle i suppose.

The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton

PROS: good beer, wide range of different drinks (5 different tequilas for example)

CONS: 'primary school'-esque plastic seats, unfriendly barstaff, shitty atmosphere, ugly decor, no or few fellow drinkers, caveman doormen, strange policies

don't know why they bother with doormen as ive never seen the place more than a 1/3rd full (?)

Basically, it's the worst pub in surbiton and is best avoided - there's no need to go there with better pubs in the area (black lion, the elm etc.)
