The Hawley Arms, Camden

Really great pub, don't believe the trendier-than-thou set telling you its not fun anymore just because people have heard of it now. Great music, everyone was having a good time, and none of the attitude I'd expect from somewhere that celebs and rockers go to. Have a few beers out on one of the terraces in summer, brilliant.

The Gun, Coldharbour

Went to The Gun on a Saturday afternoon and it was crowded so we asked if we could get a table at their Portuguese bar/restaurant terrace extension next door. When we asked about it a staff member joked that there was a thousand quid minimum if we wanted to go in, and we soon found out why. After being herded into the roped off 'drinks only' area, a staff member demanded a credit card in advance, even though we were only two people and had just ordered a couple glasses of wine. None of the bar snacks we ordered arrived, and when it came to settling the bill they first lost the credit card they had held hostage, then messed up the bill by trying to charge for the snacks we never received, and had the audacity to add on a 12% service charge. All this for one pint and one glass of wine. We have never been treated so rudely before, and we are certainly never going back.
