The Springhead, Sutton Poyntz

My Family visited the Springhead last night. The setting is beautiful and the pub looked really impressive from the outside. However, the inside looked tired and the food was far from impressive!
My husband had the Liver and Bacon, which came swimming in pale and fatty gravy, with a huge piece of grey fatty bacon. I had lamb chops which were over cooked and also fatty. The gravy was concentrated and the mint overpowering.
The kids opted for pasta bake which in fact was the macaroni cheese with a bit of tuna and peas thrown in with more cheese added. It was very 'gloopy'. It was very disappointing to say the least.
When I went to complain, I was amazed when they all looked so surprised that some one didn't like the food. The owner was there and argued that was how you cooked liver and bacon and when I commented on the gravy being so awful he assured me it wasn't bought in and was made from scratch, my point being it was the taste I had a problem with. He told me he was going to take my comments on board but that was how you cooked it!
When we left we thought it was typical of the restaurants Gordon Ramsey visited and wasn't surprised to read that someone had already mentioned that in an earlier review! I have given it a one for the lovely setting!!
